How business days are counted
There's no single formula — the calculator walks day by day from the start to the end of the range and counts the ones that fall on a weekday:
for each day from start to end:
if weekday(day) is Mon–Fri → business day
business days = count of those weekdays
In JavaScript, getDay() returns 0 for Sunday through 6 for Saturday, so a day counts when its value is 1 to 5. Tick the box to include the end date; untick it to stop one day short.
Worked example
From 1 June 2026 (a Monday) to 30 June 2026 (a Tuesday), including the end date:
Calendar days: 30 days in the inclusive range.
Weekends: June 2026 has 4 full Sat–Sun weekends = 8 weekend days.
Business days: 30 − 8 = 22 working days.

Important: this tool removes weekends only. It does not subtract public holidays, which vary by country, state and year. Subtract any holidays that land on a weekday in your range yourself.
